WHAT IS CNG

CNG is a readily available alternative to gasoline and diesel fuels that is made by compressing natural gas to less than 1% of its volume at standard pressure. It is colorless, odorless, tasteless and is drawn from domestically drilled gas wells and in crude oil production. It is clean, affordable, abundant and American.

CNG can fuel everything from vans and shuttles to transit buses and semitrucks. Since CNG is a cleaner fuel than gasoline or diesel, engine wear is reduced allowing vehicles to last longer thus saving money for maintenance. Fleet managers such as UPS and Fedex are converting their vehicles to CNG to save on fuel costs and reduce emissions. Savings are typically in the 20-40% range using CNG over gasoline and diesel.

CNG has the same power as gasoline and diesel and many cities (New York, Atlanta, Dallas, Denver to name a few) have converted their transit buses, delivery vehicles, to CNG.

With School Districts looking for ways to meet budget constraints and stricter emission regulations, administrators have been converting their buses to CNG. There are 2,500+ CNG buses in school districts across the country with more converting each year.

Any vehicle running on gasoline can be converted to a Bi-Fuel vehicle which can run on gasoline or CNG by merely flipping a switch inside the car. It involves installing a CNG cylinder in the trunk, installing the CNG system and electronics. Larger vehicles running on diesel can convert to a Dual Fuel System which is powered by a blend of CNG and diesel.. 60%CNG –40%diesel combination. This system will result in a 60% reduction in diesel fuel usage and a corresponding reduction in diesel fuel costs.
